The University of Eldoret is committed fully to the implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 QMS which will lead to improved service delivery to the University Customers and stakeholders.
It’s on this premise that the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga has ensured that Management Review meetings are held twice in a semester as programmed to assess the level of compliance and conformity to the required standards.
The Management Review Committee is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and includes all University Management Board(UMB) members ,three representatives of the Deans of Schools ,three representatives of the Directors, Director Town Campus, Senior Procurement Officer ,Principal Security Officer and the Head of Corporate Affairs & Marketing Department.
In this discourse, the University 4th Management review meeting was held on 18th September, 2019 with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga chairing the meeting. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the need for everybody to follow the documented processes to the later and the enforcement of the ISO 9001:2015 Standard requirements. The Vice-Chancellor assured all members and the larger University fraternity that the University Management and University Council were fully committed to the implementation of the QMS. She further requested that those heads of quality units who need clarification on the requirements of the standard should always approach the Directorate of Quality Assurance for assistance.
During the meeting it was agreed that the Directorate of Quality Assurance should engage the quality auditors to conduct spot checks in quality units to ensure that the non-conformities that were raised during audits are eliminated completely and measures are put to ensure that they do not recur.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized further that the processes that are developed should be in tandem with the Council approved University Policies to avoid information conflict. She reminded all members that the University funding from the treasury had been drastically reduced and hence it required all units to utilize the resources provided prudently without compromising service delivery in the core mandate of the University. The Vice-Chancellor also called upon members academic staff to share information on the research activities and publication they are involved in to enrich the data documented and stored by the University.
In her closing remarks the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga implored upon those present to act as champions of ISO 9001:2015 QMS by cascading what is discussed and agreed in the Management review meeting to other staff in their divisions and units to enhance the awareness of the requirements of the standard which in turn would ensure consistence and efficiency service delivery.
