Welcome to the 5th Annual University of Eldoret Innovation Week and Public Lecture, scheduled to take place from November 1 – 3 November 2023, at the NS Grounds. This year's theme is "Innovating for a Greener and Sustainable Future", reflecting our commitment to addressing pressing environmental challenges through innovation.

Panel Discussions
The theme of the Panel Discussions will be ‘Leveraging on Partnerships for Green and Sustainable Innovations’. The discussions will involve different categories of panelists such as former student innovators, current student innovators, current student incubates, industry and partners, university researchers and innovators, banks, and farmers to provide a forum for in-depth dialogue on how partnerships between academia and other sectors can drive innovations for a greener and sustainable future.

Innovation Challenge for High School and University Students
These competitions will provide a platform for young minds to showcase their innovative solutions toward Innovative solutions for sustainable solid waste management in Kenyan urban centers and innovative solutions to reducing the carbon footprint of their schools. The innovation challenge for students aims to build student awareness of environmental challenges and sustainability, allow students to apply technical knowledge and skills through assessing information, and problem-solving, and to develop teamwork, communication, and innovative skills

Judging of Innovations
A distinguished panel of judges will evaluate the presented innovations based on their potential impact and creativity.

Public Lecture 1: Commercializing University Research and Innovations for Sustainable Economic Growth and Societal Impact
This Public Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Erick Rutto, the Chamber President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to share insights on how to turn research and innovation into economic opportunities.

Public Lecture 2: Opportunities and Challenges for Intellectual Property Commercialization for Universities
This Public Lecture will be delivered by Prof. Tom Migun Ogada, the Board Chair of Kenya National Innovation Agency to explore the intricacies of intellectual property commercialization within the academic sector.

Award Ceremony for Innovators
There will be an award ceremony on the last day of the Innovation Week to recognize and celebrate outstanding innovations with prizes and certificates.
The Department of Intellectual Property Management of University of Eldoret is encouraging all students and staff from Departments of University of Eldoret, as well other institutions of higher learning (universities and technical colleges), research organizations, and other interested institutions to submit abstracts and showcase innovations toward solving societal challenges in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030, the goals and priorities of the African Union Agenda 2063, and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals for a greener and sustainable future. Exhibitors from other institutions will be expected to pay KES. 10,000 for the exhibition booth and meals for exhibitors for the three days. The exhibition fee should be deposited to the University of Eldoret‘s Account No: 0102816968200 at Standard Chartered Bank.
All those who wish to exhibit their innovations during the Innovation Week should submit abstracts through this link by 25th October 2023 at 5 p.m. All innovations that will be exhibited during the Innovation Week will be judged and stand a chance to win prizes and certificates.
