Biography

Dr. Gertrude Were is a nutritionist by profession and a registered member of the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians’ Institute (KNDI). Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences with a teaching experience of 30 years at university level. She has mentored many students both at M. Sc and PhD level, has published several scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and co-authored three books in her discipline.

Dr. Were has held leadership positions in the university key among them as Head, Department of Family & Consumer Sciences, Acting Director, Directorate of Industrial Linkages, Partnerships and Collaborations, Quality Assurance Officer for Town Campus and currently Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance. Her vision for the Directorate is to ensure that Quality is a habit in the entire University of Eldoret fraternity.
