The Vice-Chancellor University of Eldoret Prof. Teresa Akenga attended the Forum for Women Vice-Chancellors in Africa which was held on 21st -22nd October 2018 at Radisson Blue Hotel. The forum which was a side event during the 6th African Higher Education Week and RUFORUM Biennial Conference brought together more than 30 Vice-Chancellor from key Universities in Africa.

The two-day event which was themed: ‘Aligning African Universities to Accelerate Attainment of Transformation Agenda-2063' aimed at providing insights for good leadership skills and strategies of supporting women Vice-Chancellors in African Universities. The forum deliberated on a wide range of issues which ranged from leadership, mentorship, Intellectual property rights and patterns among others.

The event was central to providing a platform for networking and addressing key issues pertaining to the low number of women in key leadership and STEM courses. The Vice-Chancellors who attended the forum acknowledged the opportunities that this Forum brings in bridging the gap of women in leadership in Africa.

The Chairperson for FAWoVC Prof. Mabel Imbuga commented the efforts of the Women Vice-Chancellor in enhancing networking and mentorship within their ranks and highlighted that this Forum is key in creating avenues for partnership and collaboration which is central in enhancing the attainment of transformation Agenda-2063. She commented UNESCO, DAAD, JICA, and RUFORUM for collaborating with them and ensuring that this Forum becomes a success.
