The University through the Outreach and International Students Center (OISC) held a tripartite consultative collaborative meeting with representatives from Germany Universities and Agro-Kenya on the 7th November 2019, whereby deliberations on the possibility of the University's Outreach and International Students Center can offer oriented education for rural development.

The consultative meeting which was organized by the OISC is one among several between Universities in Germany and the University of Eldoret which is aimed at establishing collaboration on advancing training in agriculture that is more practical based. This collaboration builds on the existing ones between the University of Eldoret and the University of ETH Zurich in Switzerland, KUL University in Belgium and Arba Minch University in Ethiopia which advances International Tropical Field Course where students work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to solve community problems around agro-ecosystems. This model allows better exposure for students and lecturers to the dynamic and changing societal needs and students are better placed to solve emerging issues.

The round-table team who paid a courtesy call to the office of the Vice-Chancellor University of Eldoret comprised of Prof. Hans-Peter Piorr from Eberwelde University for Sustainable Development, and Mr. Clemens Witkowski-Manager of the Engineering Faculty of Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Dr. Alice Ndiema of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and Mr. Kweyu Suleiman of AgroKenya.

It was agreed that a Tripartite MOU between Germany, AgroKenya, and UOE be made and if possible be signed by the end of January 2020 to facilitate future engagements.
